City of Myst alpha is out!
Exciting news — we have officially launched the City of Myst alpha version and it’s available for download here!
NOTE: City of Myst RPG is based on the Apocalypse Engine. To run the alpha version, you should be familiar with Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) games. The upcoming beta release will include a full description of the rules.
The alpha version currently includes the basic rules for the player side of the game, the core moves, downtime moves, Mythos and Logos moves, and crew themes, as well as seven playable characters: Fire Salamander, Excalibur, Mitosis, Post-Mortem, Declan L’Estrange, Flicker, and Kitsune.
We invite you to read the basic rules and the characters and, if you liked the concept, spread the word about it. If you can’t wait to play some of these characters (as we were), get a group of friends, run a game, and tell us how it went and what can be improved. Playtesting feedback is like candy for us — we really want to hear your experiences with the game.
This is a good time to thank all the playtesters and reviewers who contributed to the game so far. Your feedback has been priceless – thank you!
The most important upcoming release we are planning is the sheets for the MC (Master of Ceremonies, i.e. the Game Master), explaining how to create “cases” and threats for the game. We will also continue to update the alpha PDFs with corrections, tweaks, style updates, and MORE ART (most notably, Post-Mortem and Kitsune’s sketches are already being redesigned) — so check in again soon.
